Description

Saturday, May 21, 12-4pm
Introduction to the Contemplative Nature of Saltwater Fly Fishing. Immerse yourself in fly casting and fly tying while exploring the connections between estuarine ecology and fly fishing. Study baitfish patterns while tying a clouser minnow, learn how to single haul and double haul a fly rod, and develop strategies for catching stripers and bluefish based on your new knowledge of the estuary. Led by Eric McDuffie, whose passion for all forms of fly fishing extends back over 50 years. Eric taught middle and high school environmental science classes for nearly two decades, receiving several Environmental Educator of the Year honors from his home state of North Carolina. Through contemplative fly fishing, he continually honors his grandfather, who began teaching him the sacred art on his third birthday. For ages 12 and up. $50/$40. Registration required at suzanne@wellsnerr.org or 207-646-1555 x116. FMI wellsreserve.org/calendar.
